At Jones Weatherproofing, we work primarily with GRP (Glass reinforced plastic), otherwise known as fibreglass, to create weatherproof roofs and building penetrations. GRP is a durable and reliable material that is virtually maintenance free. However, if maintenance is required for any reason, our team of experts is on-hand to help.
GRP general maintenance
The only maintenance recommendation typically required for GRP roofs and weatherproofing systems is to keep them clean – this helps the surface stay shiny and looking like new. It also prevents weeds and moss from taking root.
Cleaning GRP simply involves removing debris, such as leaves, tree branches, moss, or other growth, and giving the surface an occasional wash with a mop.
Cleaning a GRP roof can often be carried out as part of a standard maintenance regime, without the need for specialist help. However, depending on the roof structure, building height and access requirements, even this simple maintenance task may require an expert. This is particularly true for commercial and industrial applications.
Our team of GRP weatherproofing specialists can carry out routine maintenance of GRP roofs and building penetrations, ensuring they look good and provide the long-term performance you expect.
As the team clears debris and cleans the roof, they will also carry out a visual inspection, checking for unlikely problems such as cracks, holes, or pooling. If any issues are found, they will probably be in the earliest stages and simple remedial work, such as applying a layer of our cold-applied fibreglass coating, may be all that is required.
Maintenance for existing penetrations and weathering systems
As well as providing maintenance services for the GRP roofs and building penetrations that we have installed, we can also provide maintenance services for existing roofs, penetrations, and weathering systems. All work is carried out by our experienced team, and we will work efficiently to ensure work is completed quickly and to a high standard.
Roof and building penetration maintenance: site surveys and repairs
If a building is experiencing problems with leaks or damp, or if you’re curious about the condition of a roof or building penetration, it may be a good idea to go beyond general roof maintenance and consider booking a site survey. This will give you a thorough understanding of the building’s weatherproofing needs and let you know what repairs are required. Visit our site surveys page to find out more.
